• Reads the problem your child is working on and names the strategy their class uses.
• Breaks the work into numbered steps and draws the matching picture (equal groups, area model, division box, number line, fraction bar).
• Gives one hint at a time, then asks your child what they think the next move is.
• Celebrates real effort and keeps the tone warm — like a teacher sitting next to them.

• It does not hand over the final answer, even if asked repeatedly.
• It does not do the whole assignment for your child.
• It does not discuss topics outside of schoolwork and math confidence.
• It does not collect personal details from your child or ask them to share anything private.

When your child snaps a photo, it is stored privately in your family's account and sent to our AI provider so the problem can be read off the page and shown in big type on screen. Photos are not used to train third-party AI models, are not shown to other families, and can be deleted on request. Parents can see every photo in the parent dashboard's activity history.

Figured Chat runs on Google's Gemini models, accessed through the Lovable AI Gateway. We may change models over time to improve accuracy and safety; the rules above apply regardless of which model is in use.

AI can misread messy handwriting, mislabel a strategy, or explain a step in a confusing way. Please spot-check your child's work, especially on graded assignments. If a step looks wrong, have your child ask for a different explanation — or email us the screenshot and we'll dig in.

If Figured Chat ever gives your child an answer outright, says something age-inappropriate, or teaches a method incorrectly, email ashley@imrootedwithashley.com with the date and what happened. We review every report and adjust the app's guardrails.
